Almond: Face scrubs & masks from almonds can eliminate blemishes, blackheads & enlarged pores. Almond balms can moisturize sun-parched & flaky skin.
Apple: One of the oldest beauty aids, apples can be used as the basis of facials, hand creams, hair rinses, tonics & masks. Many germs are unable to survive in apple juice.
Apricot: Vitamin A, in which apricots are rich, is useful in facials, masks & body oils. This oil help to erase stretch marks & wrinkles. I mean fresh ones.
Avocado: Vitamins A & B, protein & natural oil, & lecithin (a protein that is good for dry & damages hair) are all found in avocados, which are ideal for nourishing cream & masks. Excellent for elbows & knee caps.
Banana: Rich in vitamin A & potassium (germs cannot survive in its presence), bananas are good for cleansing masks & hair treatments.
Bran: When it is used as a facial scrub, the minute & slightly abrasive particles of bran will penetrate deep into pores & remove specks of dirt, grease & dead skin cells.
Carrot: They are vital for healthy skin as they contain vitamin A. Carrot juice is good for the complexion, curing & preventing spots, as well as being good for the eyes & hair.
Cucumber: This is used facial masks to minimize enlarge pores & oiliness & can be used to soothe & heal sunburn.
Egg: Egg whites are astringent & gently stretch the skin, making them a useful addition to masks & creams. Egg yolks are rich in protein, which makes them invaluable in moisturizers for dry, flaky skin. Whole eggs can enrich the hair follicles, giving hair shine.
Honey: A vital ingredient of beauty preparations since ancient times. Contains high levels of vitamins, minerals & potassium (bacteria cannot survive in its presence), & it soothes, softens & nourishes, making it useful in masks , face creams & hand & body lotions.
Lemon: The acid balance of the skin is disturbed by daily washing, & lemon juice can restore that balance. Pure lemon juice has a drying action, which makes it excellent for oily skins, although people with dry skins should use it only sparingly.
Milk: Milk which is high in protein, calcium & vitamins, is absorbed quickly by the skin, leaving it soft. It is a useful ingredient in cleansing milks, face packs & scrubs & can be added to baths.
Oatflakes: The fine & gentle flakes of oat are very effective in removing dirt & grime when they are used in facial masks & scrubs, which leave the skin soft & clean.
Olive oil: As it absorbs ultraviolet rays, olive oil is effective as a screening sun-tan lotion. It can also be used to treat damaged hair, dry, flaky skin & weak nails.
Potatoes: A versatile beauty aid, potatoes can be used as a facial cleanser for normal to dry skins. Because they are gentle, they can be applied to swollen eyelids & to sunburnt skin.
Salt: A powerful cleanser, salt is most useful in dentifrices & mouthwashes. Sea salt is a tonic in the bath as well as being a good exfoliator.
Strawberry: An ideal ingredient of face masks, strawberries also have high pectin content which makes them very good tooth whiteners if they are eaten raw.
Yoghurt: The acid in yoghurt kills off harmful bacteria in the skin, making it very useful for blemish-prone skin. Yoghurt is used in face masks, scrubs & cleansers. It is also excellent as a hair conditioner or for treating a dry & scaly scalp.
